We’re happy to introduce Sadie Cunningham, who has joined the VAST Resource Solutions aquatics team as a Junior Resource Technician. Sadie hails from picturesque New Brunswick, where her love for the great outdoors began. She recently graduated from Selkirk College in 2024 with a diploma in Recreation, Fish, and Wildlife, gaining expertise in applied research, ARC GIS, and scientific literature writing.
Sadie’s passion for wildlife and the environment led her to relocate to Cranbrook, where she eagerly embraced her new role at VAST. Her skill set includes backcountry navigation, wildlife identification and sampling, telemetry, plant/tree identification, water testing, soil classification, and campground/trail design.
“I wanted to work in a field where I could make a difference in helping the environment,” said Sadie. “Working in the diverse landscapes of this region is incredibly fulfilling, as it allows me to gain a deeper understanding of the complex and varied ecosystems we have here in B.C. Growing up in New Brunswick, you don’t see as many different ecosystems over a short distance. Here, every new area reveals something unique, and I enjoy that process of discovery.”
Before joining VAST, Sadie honed her skills as an Auxiliary Conservation Officer and Aquatic Invasive Species Inspector for the Government of B.C.
Outside of work, Sadie loves exploring the great outdoors, discovering new scenic areas, and deepening her understanding of the local environment. She’s also passionate about working on vehicles and has a keen interest in interior design and art.
Join us in giving Sadie a warm welcome to the VAST team.
