International Talent Arrives in Cranbrook

We are excited to welcome Thomas Wins, an accomplished engineer and project manager, to the VAST Resource Solutions team. Thomas’s addition will further strengthen VAST’s ability to provide exceptional technical and professional services to clients, and will support all-phase project planning and execution through a personalized approach to client service.

“I’m looking forward to using my experience in project management to help VAST manage a multitude of different projects, free up capacity for field engineers, and contribute to the sustainable and successful growth of new clients, business areas, and projects,” said Thomas. “I want to contribute to ensuring that we can serve our clients quickly, professionally, and to the highest of industry standards.”

Wins has a robust background in managing large-scale industrialization projects. With over seven years of experience at Hengst Filtration and MBtech in Germany, Thomas has excelled in roles such as Industrial Engineer, Project Manager, and Sub Project Manager. In his recent role as Sub Project Manager, Thomas led a team of engineers in creating innovative industrialization concepts for the Automotive and Healthcare sectors. His expertise includes paper processing, filter pleating, machining, injection molding, and assembly. Thomas holds a Bachelor of Engineering degree from TH Köln – University of Applied Sciences, Cologne, Germany.

“What excites me about project management is the opportunity to tackle complex challenges and coordinate collaboration across various teams. I’m passionate about taking an idea and turning it into a concrete plan, then seeing it through to completion, step-by-step,” said Thomas. “The diversity of projects, their ongoing evolution, and achieving shared goals—along with the positive feedback from satisfied clients—is what motivates me. I also appreciate the dynamic nature of the work, where no two days are the same, and the constant opportunity to learn and grow.”

Originally from Germany, Thomas relocated to Cranbrook in April 2024 with his family, seeking a new lifestyle filled with nature and outdoor adventure. With five young children between the ages of 8 weeks and 6-years-old, he and his wife were drawn to the opportunities that Canada offers, including the ability to homeschool and the chance to live a more rural, wilderness-connected life. The East Kootenay region, with its mountain landscapes, four-season climate, infrastructure, and vibrant community, quickly became the perfect place for their family to call home.
