We’d like to introduce you to Thomas Malinowski (P. Eng., PMP), Senior Project Manager at VAST Resource Solutions. Thomas comes to us with more than 12 years of professional experience in project management, business development, construction and civil engineering.

“My career focus has recently been within the renewable energy and green hydrogen sectors, which I’m looking forward to applying to my work with VAST,” said Thomas, whose role will include supporting strategic growth initiatives, business development, and project delivery throughout the Kootenay region.

Thomas has both a Bachelor of Science in Civil Engineering and a Bachelor of Arts in Economics from the University of Calgary. During his post-secondary studies, he attended Texas A&M University for his final year of undergraduate studies in an exchange program. Prior to joining VAST in July, Thomas lived in Calgary with his wife and son, where he worked as the Lead Civil Engineer & Business Development Manager for a renewable energy consultancy that supports projects throughout North America and the United Kingdom.

Experienced in all facets of renewable energy—including project development, design, due diligence, construction and operations —Thomas’s diverse career has taken him across the continent, from collaborating with remote Canadian First Nations & Metis communities on solar and storage solutions, and leading operational and construction wind farm projects in Alberta, New Brunswick, Ontario and Quebec, to overseeing foundation drilling projects in Texas, Louisiana and Florida, as well as green hydrogen and ammonia greenfield development in California and Oklahoma.

“I especially enjoy collaborating with external stakeholders and helping commercial and industrial clients find innovative and cost effective solutions to meet their corporate environmental and sustainability goals, helping add value to their brand.”

Thomas and his family recently moved to Kimberley, B.C., as they longed to return to a small town way of life. They look forward to immersing themselves in mountain culture and taking advantage of all the recreational opportunities available in the area.

“Relationships and community have always been important to me,” said Thomas. “We came here for the sense of community, natural beauty and the employment opportunity with VAST presented itself, which couldn’t have worked out better. Aside from work, I enjoy slow-pitch, hockey, fishing, volunteering in the community, travel, and putting my energy into causes that enhance our collective experiences. I’m looking forward to making new friends, becoming immersed in the local community, building strong and productive relationships with clients and colleagues, and raising my family in this beautiful corner of B.C.”

Welcome to the Kootenays, Thomas. We’re happy to have you with us at VAST!
